Introduction to Xmods

Xmods are a new 1/28th scale remote controlled racer released by Radio Shack and The SourceCC They have fully proportional steering and throttle and use a 130-size motor, there are some some interesting upgrades and one of them converts your car to AWD (All Wheel Drive). They come in a very cool carrying case, with a folding transmitter and retail for $70 ($50 U.S.)

XMods come in four main different body styles (at least in Canada until 2005):
Acura RSX
| Honda Civic | Nissan Skyline | Toyota Supra.
Many New models are popping up and the newer models are not always available everywhere
But all are up-gradable and customizable and many users have discovered ways to adapt other body styles to these cars.

Below is a set of photos that show how the car arrives and the nature of the assembly process

The amount of upgrades from Radio Shack is pretty good but if you include the aftermarket parts and upgrades the amount of things you can do with these little cars is astounding they have parts made from Carbon fibre, also massive voltage upgrades and even Neon light kits! Take a look at some of the photos below to get an idea of how much effort some Xmodders put into their cars.

Here is a photo of the base Acura RSX car completely dismantled so you can get an idea of how many small parts actually make-up an Xmod. Note the RSX pictured below has been upgraded from stock so some parts may not be included in your base configuration or may be different. (click to enlarge).

This photo was borrowed from AtomicMods.com a must visit to see just how fast an Xmod can go.
